In 1983, Chris Gorton, an Engineer by trade, spotted a gap in the market for engineering talent in the North West. He founded Hollymaine Engineering And Design Services, with his first client being a local chemical manufacturing business. In the space of a year, he added 2 additional members of staff and made a turnover of £80,000.
15 years later, the company rebranded to HEADS Recruitment. In this time, the business had grown to 30 members of staff and was now making £5m a year. HEADS were establishing themselves as a trusted partner for many of the regions' manufacturing, warehousing and logistics businesses.
20 years after first opening, we expanded into West Yorkshire! This was our first office opened outside of the Manchester region, where we settled in Elland, near Halifax. By this time, we had grown to 3 sites with 45 staff, turning over £23m.
Despite the global financial market crashes in 2007, HEADS Recruitment continued to go from strength to strength. 5 years after our expansion into West Yorkshire, we had almost doubled in turnover, despite only having 8 additional staff members!
In 2015, HEADS Recruitment was acquired by PROMAN. The French, family-owned recruitment agency saw HEADS as a key opportunity to expand its footprint globally, thanks to its mirrored values and track record of success across the country.
4 years after the acquisition, HEADS Recruitment rebranded to PROMAN UK and continues to go from strength to strength. We grew to £80m turnover and continued to expand across the UK, with 11 sites and 123 staff members.
